Julia's Joy Fundraiser October 1 2017

"Julia’s Joy" is a free Teen & Tween Empowerment Program for girls and boys created in memory of Julia Morath. Julia, a 14 year old Freshman at Springford High School in Pennsylvania,  was unable to find her true self and joy in this life. She sadly made an impulsive decision to choose suicide in April of 2017 after a viral Cyberbullying incident. Her family, friends and the team at Pillars of Light and Love have developed this program to help Teens learn to live their best life, and to become the greatest versions of themselves. Teen suicide is up 200% and drug use and heroin overdoses are rapidly increasing. We believe teaching strong coping skills, self-acceptance, self-love, self-respect and self-responsibility will empower teens and help them make positive choices in relationships, health and life.

This initial program was brought to the community through donations from Julia's friends and family. To help us continue our program, please consider a donation HERE.

In response to parental requests, we have created a customized version of Julia's Joy for 11 & 12 year olds being held 4-6pm on certain Sundays. Topics for the TWEEN version will be  emotions, bullying, social media, friend drama, body image, self- esteem, courage and more! All sessions will be taught by Alexandra Mitchell.

The Teen Program ran weekly for the Summer of 2017. Now that School has begun, we will continue Julia's Joy with a less structured curriculum for those who have taken the program, and we welcome newcomers ages 13-19. Based on feedback from the Teen Participants, we will hold an open "Julia's Joy Teen Talk" program several times per month.  The young and dynamic Carter Ross and/or Alexandra Mitchell will facilitate the Teen Talk groups.
